Have you ever
sailed before? I have, and you won't believe what happened. Well I
guess I should start at the beginning when Uncle Johnny first showed
up at our door. We had heard a lot about Uncle Johnny from both Mom
and Dad, but we never really believed that he existed. I mean we
never saw him, he never called or sent us anything by mail, and his
adventures always sounded too good to be true.
It was just so hard
to believe that all of those things could happen to just one man. I
mean, how many people do you know that have been chased by lions in
the African jungles, lived with the Eskimos at the North Pole, owned
a kangaroo farm in Australia, and flown a hot air balloon across the
Atlantic?
We loved all the
stories, but thought that our parents were trying to teach us about
other parts of the world by the many adventures of "Uncle Johnny".
That's why we were very surprised when he actually showed up at our
door.
He burst in,
wearing his sailing clothes and without so much as a hello he said "Let's
go sailing!" My dad tried to get out of going, but Uncle Johnny had
an answer for every excuse my dad came up with. My mother wasn't
successful either. Within an hour we were all packed into the car
and heading towards the marina. Now as you can imagine, what started
out as a simple sailing trip ended up as a great adventure. Let me
tell you all about it....
